Thomas Tuchel has provided an update on Thiago Silva and his injury ahead of the Manchester United game (h/t Metro). The defender is expected to miss the high-profile clash but could return to training next week as told by the manager.
The former PSG man was taken off in the Tottenham game with a thigh issue and has been an absentee since. Silva joined the club in the summer and has become a vital member of the side in defence.
Tuchel spoke about Silva ahead of the crucial game in the race for top-four.
‘No more injury concerns [in the rest of the squad] and no Thiago cannot play on Sunday,’ said Tuchel on Friday. ‘He did an individual session today but a session on the pitch and felt it was a big progress, a big step ahead for him ‘So I hope he will join the group next week.’
The veteran Brazilian is surely going to be a huge miss for this game given his ability and experience. Nonetheless, Tuchel will likely choose between the likes of Rudiger, Zouma, Azpilicueta and Christensen.
This fixture will be a huge test for Tuchel given how Manchester United have played this season, especially away from home. Thomas Tuchel’s unbeaten record at Chelsea since arriving could be put to the ultimate test here.
