Report: Chelsea boss Tuchel puts key potential transfer on hold

Transfer plans an afterthought as Thomas Tuchel aims to get Chelsea firing

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is determined to ensure his strikers get back to their best at Stamford Bridge.

The 47-year-old has focussed all of his attention on doing just that, blocking out any thoughts of potential summer transfers. At least for now.

The Blues have been linked to the likes of Braut Haaland. A prolific scorer, there are few better goalscorers in world football today. In Werner, Tuchel has a player who scored for fun in the Bundesliga but has struggled to replicate the same form in England.

Since taking over last month, Tuchel has seen just one of his strikers score. Both Olivier Giroud and Werner are yet to open their account under the German.

“You focus your energy on developing potential that we have. And we have potential.”‘

With a little under half a season to go, there is still time for Tuchel to get an idea of his available resources. It is fair to say that with a clean slate, our misfiring frontline has a chance to showcase its abilities.

“Does it help if we look now to any other squad and have the feeling that the grass is greener on the other side? No. Because we have guys here who can score.”

Timo Werner has struggled to make an impact of late

Werner has scored just once in his last 19 games for Chelsea in all competitions. The striker missed our FA Cup clash against Barnsley but is now expected to take the field against Newcastle.

Tuchel believes the onus of scoring may fall onto the strikers, but it is up to him and the other players to ensure goalscoring opportunities are created.

“Now it is on us, me and the teammates to create chances and the amount of chances that they can score.”

In Werner, Giroud, and Tammy Abraham, Chelsea has three strikers who are capable in their own right. Despite their recent lull in form, their ability remains sound.

As someone who pays incredible attention to detail, Tuchel can hopefully get them all firing once again.
