According to ESPN, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has said that his side are still a work in progress. He does believe that the side can improve further but has said that they are more robust now compared to when he took over.
The former PSG manager has enjoyed his start to life at his new club with an 8-game unbeaten streak, winning six of them. The most recent one came in the Champions League where they found a win over La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid.
There has been a marked improvement in Chelsea’s defending, with the side looking much better at the back after Tuchel’s rejig.
“I think it’s not a pleasure to play against us but the picture isn’t finished. We have a long way to go,” he told a news conference ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash at home to Manchester United.
“There’s no other way to stay hungry, improve every day… there’s lots to improve. I can clearly feel the energy of my team. We’re a strong group, have strong competitors and that makes us hard to beat. Football is a team effort.”
He added that he fully understands the gravity of the game, with United sitting in second place and in good shape. Chelsea could climb back into the top-four places if they win this game and West Ham drop points against Manchester City.
