Chelsea linked David Alaba wishes to play in midfield at new club

According to Le Parisien (h/t Football.london), David Alaba, who has been linked to Chelsea, has issued a demand for any club that signs him. The Austrian wants to play in midfield for his prospective new club and whoever can guarantee that, could get an edge in signing him.

David Alaba confirmed earlier this month that he would be leaving Bayern Munich at the end of this season on the expiry of his contract. While there were no hints of which would be his next club, the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool are said to be interested in him.

However, the 28-year-old has spoken about his desire to play in midfield and explore his versatility. Alaba is a natural left-back who has often played in various positions such as centre-back, left-midfield and central midfield.

He has excelled in all those positions but wants to play in central midfield in the future. While Chelsea might not really be in need of a central midfielder, it does remain interesting to see if they can provide Alaba the chance to play in midfield in case they sign him.
