Chelsea summer signing talks about life under Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea star Edouard Mendy talks about life under Thomas Tuchel

Despite being known as one of the more difficult and demanding managers, Mendy says that Tuchel is very easy to read and the players know what he wants by looking at him.

Tuchel has been coming off as a positive person since taking charge of the Blues nearly a month ago. His record in the initial stages would suggest that he is doing his job well enough with 6 wins and 2 draws in all his games. Chelsea have become very difficult to crack with the side just conceding twice during those 8 games.

After climbing up the league table and putting themselves back in contention for the top-four, Chelsea have also done well in their first Champions League knockout game. Mendy spoke about the whole situation under Thomas Tuchel.

“The coach gives confidence to all the players. We know what he wants so when we are on the pitch we have to show why he has chosen us. It’s very positive for all the players because he gives us a lot of confidence and we need to improve and to play great football when we are on the pitch.

“He is very expressive. He shows when he likes something. When you did well on the pitch and every day at training and in the game, he pushes you. He stays positive but he also shows his determination and that is good for me and the team.”

Chelsea signed Edouard Mendy in the summer

The German manager, on joining Chelsea, admitted that he needed to ‘improve’ and build good relations with the club. He did not have the best of endings to his Borussia Dortmund and PSG stints where he fell out with the club hierarchy.

However, things have been quite different at Chelsea with more of Tuchel’s lighter side on display. Even the club and players look upbeat unlike the final days of Frank Lampard’s reign. Chelsea’s next assignment will be Manchester United in the Premier League.
