FA Cup quarter-final draw held as Chelsea prepare to face Premier League team in 6th round
A report by Mirror mentions that Chelsea have been drawn to play against Sheffield United in the FA Cup quarter-final after the 6th round draw was held on Thursday.
The match is scheduled to take place at Stamford Bridge on 20th March 2021. This is the first time that the Blues will take on a Premier League club in the FA Cup this season.
Chelsea narrowly beat Barnsley 1-0 on Thursday night to book their place in the quarter-finals. Sheffield United, on the other hand, secured a 1-0 win victory over Bristol City to reach this stage.
Before that, the Blues overcame Morecambe by a 4-0 scoreline in the 3rd round and then saw off Championship side Luton Town 3-1 in the 4th round of the competition.
Lucky Blues
Chelsea have probably received one of the easier fixtures on paper in the draw considering all the remaining teams in the competition are from the Premier League.
Everton welcome Manchester City, while Manchester United have a trip to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City. The other fixture sees Bournemouth take on Southampton.
Sheffield United have been rooted to the bottom of the league table for quite a while a now. The Blades have amassed just 11 points from their 23 Premier League games so far this season.
The Blues, of course, beat them earlier this week in the league. Antonio Rudiger’s own goal was sandwiched between Mason Mount’s opener and Jorginho’s penalty in a 2-1 scoreline.
