Chelsea star Thiago Silva took to Twitter to thank outgoing Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
Brought in for free in the summer, the 36-year-old has gone on to emerge as a leader in the Chelsea backline. He has formed an excellent partnership with Kurt Zouma at the heart of the Blues defence.
“Thank you very much for everything legend.”
Silva made 18 appearances for Chelsea under Lampard. This also includes what turned out to be the Blues legend’s last three league clashes in charge.
Silva thanked Lampard for everything he has done for him at the club. Despite their short time together, their relationship appeared to have the gravitas of one that has lasted years.
“It seemed like we had been working together for 10 years!!”
A busy summer followed by a poor run of results has seen Chelsea part ways with the club legend. While the demands placed on a Chelsea manager are always high, there was hope that Lampard could turn things around and manage just that.
German manager Thomas Tuchel is now set to take the Chelsea hot-seat a month after being sacked by PSG.
He is a person Silva is familiar with, having served together in the French capital. Following Tuchel’s sacking, Silva went on to admit that the writing on the wall had been clear for some time. (h/t The Mirror)
With them now set for a reunion, there will hopefully be no bad blood between the pair.
Unfortunately, the Lampard era at Chelsea did not quite pan out as expected. It is still early days for the 42-year-old who is still learning the trade.
Let’s hope he succeeds wherever he ends up next.
