Team News: Speaking to the club’s official website, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that midfielder N’Golo Kante will miss the FA Cup tie against Luton Town.
The Blues are set to face off against the EFL Championship outfit in the 4th round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon. However, we will once again have to do without the services of Kante.
The Frenchman missed the FA Cup win against Morecambe due to a hamstring issue and has since not played in the Premier League matches against Fulham and Leicester City.
And ahead of Luton Town’s visit to Stamford Bridge, Lampard has confirmed that Kante will once again be unavailable for selection.
“N’Golo on the other hand is not fit and won’t be available. He’s working outside on his own with the physios at the moment and we hope to have him back as soon as possible.”
The manager further added the club hoped to have Kante back in action by next week. So there is a chance that the Frenchman may miss the midweek contest against Wolves in the Premier League.
There is some good news on the injury front though, as Kante’s compatriot, Olivier Giroud, is available for selection after missing the Leicester City clash with an issue.
“Olivier is fit. He trained with us today and he’s fine for the weekend.”
Following the meek defeat to Leicester, it is imperative that Chelsea return to winning ways on Sunday. Having Kante would certainly have helped our cause. Let’s hope he can be ready in time for the games against Wolves and Burnley next week.
