Frank Lampard dreams of coaching Barcelona in the future
Speaking on Esport3 program Onze, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague (h/t Express) said that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has dreams of managing La Liga giants Barcelona.
It is no surprise that Frank Lampard was linked with a host of European clubs during his playing days at Chelsea. The Englishman spent a large chunk of his career at Stamford Bridge.
And Ballague states that the 42-year-old still has ambitions to make it abroad, but this time as a manager.
“His dream is to train in La Liga and do what he couldn’t do during his days as a player.”
He mentions that Barcelona is Lampard’s preferred destination should an opportunity arise to join as a manager.
“He would like to sit in the dugout at the Nou Camp and coach Barca in the not too distant future.”
Lampard’s Chelsea in poor form
These quotes come after were beaten by Manchester City last weekend. The defeat put further pressure on manager Frank Lampard, who has seen his side win just once in the past 7 matches in all competitions.
In a report by the Athletic (subscription required) last week, Lampard’s job was under threat, with the club looking at replacements after a torrid run of games which saw Chelsea fall down in the league table.
Barcelona are currently not doing too well themselves. The Catalan club are 3rd in the La Liga table, trailing Atletico Madrid by 7 points and having played two games fewer than them.

Of course, there is nothing to indicate that Lampard is in line to be the manager at Barcelona, but Balague’s comments clarify that the Chelsea boss could be interested in a job at Camp Nou if the club comes calling.
