Chelsea manager Frank Lampard could be a marked man as unrest among players grows
According to ESPN, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is a subject of unrest behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.
The players are frustrated with Lampard’s tactical approach and his inability to decide upon his best playing XI. It is fair to say that the struggles faced by German duo Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have done little to help matters. (h/t The Express)
It would appear that the Blues boss has much to do in order to retain the trust of those who employ his vision on the field.
Having spent over £250million in the summer, the pressure was always bound to be put on Lampard to succeed.
While Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva can be considered to be successes, the same cannot be said for the rest. Edouard Mendy and Werner have been hit and miss, while Havertz has been largely underwhelming.
A run of poor form has seen the Blues cede ground in the title race. With just one win in the last 6 Premier League games, Chelsea will now have to make up for lost ground.
Despite the players turning on him, Lampard appears to retain the club’s confidence. Chelsea have no intention of sacking him at this point in time.
A promising debut season and his legendary status at the club have given him some leeway to turn things around. However, how long that will last remains to be seen. (h/t The Express)

Chelsea next face Morecambe in the FA Cup followed by the Premier League fixture against Fulham. Anything less than a win in both games is sure to ramp up the pressure on Lampard.
The Blues boss also needs to convince the players that the club can only progress by presenting a united front. Lack of faith will only hurt us going forward.
