Napoli serious in their efforts to land Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri
According to the Italian publication Corriere dello Sport via Sempre Inter (h/t Football.london), Napoli are serious about signing Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri.
The Italian defender is behind Ben Chilwell in the Blues pecking order. As of yet, he has made just eight appearances for Chelsea in all competitions.
While Chelsea are not averse to selling the player, they would preferably want to get rid of him on a permanent basis. (h/t Football.london)
With the out-of-favour Marcos Alonso also at the club, Chelsea are keen to get rid of either the Spaniard or Emerson. While Napoli remain keen on Emerson, their move is subject to offloading either Kevin Malcuit or Faouzi Ghoulam.
Napoli are far from the only side keen on securing the 26-year-old’s services. Both Inter Milan and Juventus are also keeping tabs on his situation at the Bridge.
Emerson currently has 18 months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge. Signed from Roma in 2018, the Italian defender has failed to gain a foothold in the Blues squad.
While it makes sense for Chelsea to rid themselves of a backup left-back, it would be wise decision for us to keep Emerson and sell Alonso.
The Spaniard had a falling out with Frank Lampard earlier in the season and has not featured for the club since. With Atletico Madrid keen on securing Alonso’s services, Chelsea can get rid of two birds with one stone.

With games coming thick and fast, how Lampard will rotate his squad will be key. Chilwell has shown that he is susceptible to injuries, meaning the Blues need a senior left-back ready to step in when needed.
Emerson can fulfil that role well and the club will do well to keep him until a replacement can be brought in.
Emerson has made 63 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions. During this time, he has scored one goal and assisted five. (h/t Transfermarkt)
