Mason Mount insists Chelsea still on a learning curve after Leicester loss
Speaking to the club’s official website, Chelsea star Mason Mount has admitted that the team needs to perform better after the 2-0 loss to Leicester City.
After back-to-back wins against Morecambe and Fulham, it looked like things were getting better for Frank Lampard & co. However, goals from Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison in the first-half saw Chelsea succumb to a meek defeat.
The result meant we have now lost five of our last eight Premier League games (D1 L2), leaving us in the eighth spot in the table – five points below the fourth place.
Mount, speaking after the disappointing display, acknowledged that Leicester were the better team on Tuesday night.
“We were beaten by the better side. They set up very well and sometimes you have to put your hands up and say they were better on the night.”
The 22-year-old midfielder went on to add that Chelsea were disappointed with the performance, as he knows that the team is capable of much better.
“We are disappointed we didn’t win the game. We know we are better than that. We have to have a look at ourselves, look at how we played, see where we can improve and come back stronger next game.”
At the same time, Mount insisted that the whole team is still in a transitional phase and needed time to gel better in order to put up their best performances.
“We are on a learning curve. Every day we need to get better, on the training ground and when we play. It takes time. We are definitely going to get there.”
