Frank Lampard addresses job threat rumours after Chelsea lose to Manchester City

As reported by Football.london, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has responded to claims that his job might be under threat after the damaging 3-1 defeat to Manchester City.

The Blues put in a listless performance, especially in the first half, as Manchester City ran riot, scoring three goals. The visitors failed to add to their scoreline in the second period while Callum Hudson-Odoi did score a late consolation goal.

The result meant that we have now won just one of our last six Premier League games. This has brought increased pressure on Lampard. But the manager is insistent that scrutiny is normal in a job as high-profile as the Chelsea one and he is not worried about the speculations.

“I am not concerned on that. I just spoke (to Sky Sports) the after the game about I expected periods of difficulty. I know it doesn’t come easy. Whether that puts pressure on me it is regardless. Pressure remains constant. My job is to keep working and pick up the players.”

The 42-year-old further added that his team was bound to go through a difficult period considering the number of new faces and young players in the squad.

“Havertz and Werner are young and haven’t played in the Premier League. Ben Chilwell is young, Thiago Silva is at the other end of his career. When you come to the PL, players haven’t had a pre-season and you have to accept that sometimes there will be lessons learned.”
