“A huge privilege” – Lampard sends out classy message to the fans after shock Chelsea sacking

Frank Lampard sends a classy message to Chelsea fans after being sacked

Chelsea parted ways with manager Frank Lampard yesterday night. The Englishman’s hold on the job had eased off following a run of just three wins in 10 Premier League matches.

Having defeated Luton Town to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup, there was hope that Lampard would be given more time. However, that was not the case.

According to Football.london, Lampard has issued a statement via the League Managers Association. As ever, the message oozes with class and dignity, something synonymous with the 42-year-old on and off the pitch.

“I am disappointed not to have had the time this season to take the club forward and bring it to the next level.”

“It has been a huge privilege and an honour to manage Chelsea, a club that has been a big part of my life for so long.”

Having served the club for 13 years as a player, Lampard’s affinity with Chelsea runs deep. In contrast, his 18 months as manager was but a short sojourn. However, he considers it an honour to have been given the opportunity to do so.

Lampard thanked the fans for their support and wants them to know that he appreciates it all. Taking over from Maurizio Sarri was not an easy job and Lampard was well aware of the challenge that lay ahead.

“I took on this role, I understood the challenges that lay ahead in a difficult time for the football club.”

Dealing with the loss of Eden Hazard and a transfer ban was not easy. Despite not having won a trophy during his reign, Lampard ensured the club made the most of the situation.

By bringing in young players and also strengthening the squad, Lampard has, if anything, made his successor’s job easier. It is a shame that Lampard won’t be at the helm to see the fruits of his labour.

“I am proud of the academy players that have made their step into the first team and performed so well. They are the future of the club.”

Lampard also went on to thank owner Roman Abramovich and his coaching staff for all their help during his reign.

While he may not have led us back to the top, Lampard leaves the Chelsea squad in a better position in terms of talent. Thomas Tuchel will have a strong squad at his disposal to implement his ideas.

We thank Lampard for everything he has done and let’s hope he goes on to rekindle his career elsewhere.
