“A player in the highest level” – Lampard reveals hope regarding promising Chelsea star

Frank Lampard expects Chelsea star Mason Mount to follow in his stead

According to the club’s official site, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard believes Mason Mount will add more goals to his tally in the seasons to come.

The Blues boss recently advised the youngster to back up his good performances with more goals. With two strikes in as many matches, Mount is well on his way to do just that.

The 22-year-old was the hero last week against Fulham. Chelsea struggled to break down a disciplined Cottagers defence only for Mount to score the winner late on.

The midfielder arrived late into the box to hit the ball home in a strike reminiscent of Lampard’s days as a player.

The Blues boss was a savant at scoring goals from midfield. He believes the Chelsea ptorege has the capablity to do the same.

At 22, Mount is already a Chelsea regular. He is currently learning and adding to his game and has his best years ahead of him.

“My serious goalscoring at Chelsea came in when I was 25, 26. I’m not trying to measure Mason up against myself, but I understand it’s not easy to get so many regular goals.”

As a player, Lampard came into his own in his mid-twenties. What followed was a streak of consistency where he produced impressive numbers on a regular basis.

He believes Mount can follow a similar path and mold himself into a goalscoring midfielder. The nous required to be at the right place at the right time is something that will come to the 22-year-old in time.

“By the time he’s 24, maturing into the prime of his career, I would like to think Mason Mount will be a player in the highest level in all senses and have at least 10 goals, maybe 15, a season in him.”

Lampard was a consistent scorer for Chelsea

Lampard also admitted that Mount shares his sentiments and is keen to achieve the same himself. Clearly, he has no one better than the Blues boss under whom he can achieve just that.

With our summer signings still settling in, the onus is on the established players to make an impact and ease the burden on them.

Mount is leading by example and stepping up when the team needs him. He may not be an elite midfielder akin to Lampard yet. However, he is slowly and surely getting there.
