Fluminense manager confident of Thiago Silva transfer from Chelsea
Speaking in a video on the YouTube channel Pilhado (h/t football.london), Fluminense manager Marcao implied that he was confident of a transfer deal for Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva.
Fluminense are, of course, Silva’s boyhood club. He was re-signed by the club in January 2006 and spent 3 years there, before AC Milan came calling in the 2009 January transfer window.
The 36-year-old was signed by Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window. Since then, he has been one of the most important players in Frank Lampard’s team.
He has already featured in 14 Premier League games, captaining the side in a majority of those. The Brazilian was signed on a one-year contract with an option to further extend it to the summer of 2022. (h/t football.london)
That is yet to happen and now, Marcao has expressed his desire to bring the Chelsea captain back to Maracana. He even went on to say that the defender himself wants the move.
“I’m sure that we’ll have the captain here with us. We’ll do everything to bring the captain. He wants it a lot.”
All good things come to an end
This might come as the biggest shock to Blues fans. The 36-year-old veteran is not getting any younger and there is only so many years he can spend at the top of his game.
He has added leadership as well as experience to the Chelsea backline this season, but it is obvious that he is not a long-term solution for Frank Lampard.

Kurt Zouma has made the starting position at centre-back his own alongside Silva. Apart from, the club also has Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
The Chelsea defender still has the rest of the season ahead of him and would be hoping he could land some silverware before he takes a decision on his future.
