Chelsea outcast Danny Drinkwater to join Ksimpasa on loan
Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has cited Goal.com’s Chelsea FC correspondent Nizaar Kinsella to reveal that Danny Drinkwater will join Turkish side Kasimpasa on loan until the end of the season.
A key part of the Leicester side that won the Premier League in 2016, Drinkwater never quite achieved the same levels of performance at Chelsea.
Drinkwater has not made a senior appearance for us since 2018. The club was keen to sell him in the summer but was unable to find any takers.
He now appears set to embark on this third loan spell since joining the Blues. He initially spent the first half of last season on loan at Burnley.
A brawl outside a Manchester nightclub left the 30-year-old injured, cutting short his at Turf Moor. He eventually returned to Chelsea in January 2020 before leaving on loan again, this time to Aston Villa.
Neither spell saw him impress and his future at Chelsea is practically non-existent. The midfielder is currently training with the Under-23s.
Drinkwater’s fate is in stark contrast to N’Golo Kante who joined Chelsea from Leicester in 2016. Drinkwater cost more than the Frenchman but has failed to make even an iota of the impact.
Kasimpasa are 13th in the table in the Turkish top flight. The team is not one to challenge for the top and should help take the spotlight off Drinkwater.

At 30, the English midfielder still has a number of years left in him. At the very least, he can use his stint in Turkey as an audition to prospective buyers ahead of the summer window.
He has made four appearances this season, none of them for the first-team. Drinkwater was sent off for kicking out at a teenager in a PL2 fixture.
