Chelsea hold talks with two prospective replacements for Frank Lampard

Chelsea hold talks with Thomas Tuchel and Massimilano Allegri

According to The Bild’s Christian Falk (h/t Express), Chelsea have already held talks with both Massimiliano Allegri and Thomas Tuchel as Frank Lampard’s side look to get their season back on track.

The Blues have won just one of their last six Premier League games and have fallen to ninth in the table. If results all go our way, we could end the weekend just seven points off the top.

Chelsea followed up the abject 3-1 loss to Manchester City with a 4-0 walloping of Morecambe in the FA Cup. Hopefully, the result will help us put together a run of wins.

Massimiliano Allegri is among the coaches on Cheslea’s radar

The Blues hierarchy is set to give Lampard the time he needs to set things straight. However, given the money spent in the summer, how long they are willing to wait remains to be seen.

A top-four finish would be the minimum of expectations gives the riches at his disposal. Failing which, he could very well be shown the door at the Bridge.

Chelsea appear to be preparing for any eventuality by courting potential replacements. Allegri and Tuchel are both tactically astute and are further along their development cycle as a manager compared to Lampard.

The List!

The two are, however, not the only names under contention. Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers and RB Leipzig tactician Julian Nagelsmann have all been sounded out as potential replacements.

Unlike the three, both Allegri and Tuchel are currently unattached. The former left his job at Juventus in 2019 while the latter was dismissed by PSG in December.

The next few months will be interesting to say the least.

A top four finish will be the nominal expectation for Frank Lampard at Chelsea

Lampard’s success last season combined with his legendary status at the club has offered him a stay of execution. The same may not have been afforded to other managers in his position. The onus is now on him to make use of the resources to get us back to winning ways.
