Chelsea fans react as Thomas Tuchel era starts with a draw
In a matter of just 72 hours, Chelsea went from being managed by Frank Lampard to Thomas Tuchel.
The German manager who took the reins on Tuesday had just a single training session to assess his players. Wolverhampton Wanderers is not an easy opponent but the Blues held their own under the watchful gaze of the new boss.
The game may have ended 0-0 but there was much to be happy about. Apart from breaking the deadlock, Chelsea dominated every facet of the game.
Tuchel employed a fluid 3-4-2-1 that looked more experimental than a blueprint. A major drawback on the night was the lack of threat we posed in the final third.
The German boss chose to go with experience at the back. The likes of Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger, and Cesar Azpilicueta all started in what was a second clean sheet in six Premier League games.
Callum Hudson-Odoi was the lone academy starlet in the starting XI on a night where Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz showed great promise.
It is difficult to assess Tuchel’s gameplan based on one game. The players however responded well and showed flashes of brilliance.
All in all, it was a promising start for Tuchel in Blue.

Am so gassed from this match. I saw amazing stuff, and is only gonna get better. And for the lineup, even Tuchel said it was the most unfair lineup since he didn’t have time. COYB💙💙💙
