After a run of 12 games and 827 minutes, Chelsea striker Timo Werner finally managed to find the back of the net, when he tapped in Kai Havertz’s pass to score in the 4-0 win over Morecambe.
The German international, having arrived from RB Leipzig in the summer amid much fanfare, had been going through a dry spell in front of goal for a while now. His profligate displays had coincided with a poor run of results for Frank Lampard’s men.
However, on Sunday, the former RB Leipzig man ended that run. It wasn’t the prettiest of the strikes, but a scrappy effort at best. And apart from the goal, the German did not make that great an impression during his time on the field.
But, the goal will certainly have filled the forward with plenty of confidence. And this should provide him with the momentum to kick on and put together a goal-scoring run.
Naturally, the fans were pleased to see Werner finally find the back of the net. And here’s how they reacted to the moment on social media.
