Report – Tuchel decides on the three players he wants to sign at Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel decides his three summer transfer targets

According to Football.london, newly-appointed Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has already decided the first three players he wants to bring to the club in the summer.

The 47-year-old took over the reins at Stamford Bridge earlier this week after club legend Frank Lampard was sacked following a disappointing run of results.

As is the case with any new manager coming, Tuchel has brought in his own ideas and philosophy that he wants to implement at Chelsea. In addition, the German already has made a decision on the players he wants to sign at the club this summer.

As per the report, Tuchel is keen on bolstering the Chelsea defence come summer. To that end, the German tactician has his sights set on Bayern Munich defender David Alaba, along with RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

Alaba, a vastly experienced customer, will be a free agent at the end of the season. Tuchel is said to be a huge admirer of the Austrian international and could push for his signing, although a host of high-profile clubs are keen on him.

Upamecano, meanwhile, is regarded as one of the brightest young defenders in Europe. The defender can be seen as a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva, who is already 36 years old. Like Alaba, Upamecano, too, is a subject of interest from a number of top teams.

Finally, the third player that Tuchel would like to bring in at Chelsea is Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has been in blistering goalscoring form over the past eighteen months.

With Olivier Giroud’s contract expiring and Timo Werner not hitting the expected heights, Haaland can be a brilliant long-term addition to the Chelsea squad.

However, having spent heavily in the last summer, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea are willing to splash the cash again later this year.

In his first match in charge, Tuchel led Chelsea to a goalless draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The German tactician has difficult assignments against the likes of Burnley and Tottenham lined up in the coming days.
