Callum Hudson-Odoi sends a message to Frank Lampard over his game-time

According to Football.London, Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has opened up on the lack of regular game-time under Frank Lampard this season.

The 20-year-old Englishman, a product of the Chelsea youth academy, has had difficulties in nailing down a starting berth for himself ever since he burst onto the scenes in the 2018/19 season under Maurizio Sarri.

Off-field problems have played a part in Hudson-Odoi’s inability to kick on and fulfil his immense potential. In addition, a lack of consistency has also been a problem for the England international.

However, Hudson-Odoi has impressed in his recent matches this season and is slowly starting to grow into a vital player for us. So far this term, the 20-year-old winger has five goals and two assists in all competitions.

Speaking ahead of our Premier League game against Fulham, Hudson-Odoi has insisted that he needs to keep smiling and working hard, while making the most of the opportunities that come his way.

“No – I’m trying hard in training every day, I’m giving 110 per cent in training and in games. No matter when the opportunity comes, I’m going to try and continue to do my best and contribute to the team – scoring and assisting.

“Hopefully more opportunities will come. I’m always smiling – that’s the main thing. I like to smile, be positive no matter the situation.”

So far this term, Hudson-Odoi has started two just Premier League matches. Given that we have the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner fighting for the starting berths in the wide areas, the competition is naturally intense.

However, Hudson-Odoi has shown in the past few games in that he has the quality to go toe-to-toe with the world-class stars. Hopefully, he is now able to go on a consistent run and become a regular in the side.
