Baba Rahman close to leaving Chelsea in the January transfer window
A report by Goal (h/t Football.london) states that Chelsea defender Baba Rahman is in ‘advanced talks’ to leave on a loan spell in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old could leave the Blues this month, with two overseas clubs interested in securing his services. Rahman is yet to feature for the senior Chelsea team this season.
The left-back has played 3 games in Premier League 2 after returning to Chelsea in the summer from his loan spell at RCD Mallorca. The Ghanaian started his career in stellar fashion.
He appeared 23 times for the club in the 2015/16 season. However, he is yet to feature for the club since his Premier League appearance against Leicester in May 2016. (h/t Transfermarkt)
He has since spent his time on loan at three different clubs, playing for Stade Reims, Schalke, and RCD Mallorca in the past four and a half years.
Spoilt for choice
Currently, it does not seem like Frank Lampard has a shortage at left-back. Ben Chilwell has made the starting spot his own since signing the summer, while Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri have been back-ups.
Moreover, at 26 years of age, it makes sense for Rahman to want regular playing time, of which he is getting none at Chelsea right now. If he does move to a new club, it could be the best possible option for all parties.
This news comes alongside another Chelsea loanee, Lucas Piazon, seeking a way out of the club in January. Unlike Rahman, his move is being touted as a permanent transfer.

Chelsea do have a pretty big squad at the moment, and it would make sense if Lampard decides to offload some players who are not included in his plans at Stamford Bridge.
