Abramovich opens the Chelsea doors to NHS workers

Chelsea once again open Stamford Bridge hotel rooms to the NHS

Chelsea have confirmed on their official site that the club has once again made hotel rooms at the Copthorne Hotel at Stamford Bridge available for NHS workers. This as England enters a third national lockdown.

This is the second time that the club has undertaken such an initiative. They last did so during the first lockdown back in March.

Club owner Roman Abramovich will once again cover the costs of providing the accommodation, including bed and breakfast. The rooms will be made available until the next government review in mid-February.

Chelsea have made the Copthorne Hotel available for healthcare workers

The club’s decision will come as a boon to many of our healthcare professionals who have sacrificed much to keeps us safe since last year.

Many of the medical staff will be working long hours and may not be able to travel home or would have to make long commutes at a time when the virus is enjoying a resurgence. They now have a place to turn to in London if needed.

Millennium Hotels and Resorts, who manage the hotel, are assisting the club in providing this service to the NHS.

Despite the new lockdown, elite level sport continues to happen. Chelsea will still have to fulfil their obligations on the pitch, although Covid tests are pending.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich will foot the bill

The Blues next take on Morecambe in the FA Cup on Sunday. The League Two side have been victims of an outbreak and have not played a game since Boxing Day.

In a time of great peril, football clubs all over the country have stepped up to help their local communities. Chelsea are no different. We are extremely proud of our club for behaving with compassion and generosity in these fearful times.
