“Not good enough” – former manager gives a scathing review of this defender’s error in Aston Villa draw

Tim Sherwood believes Andreas Christensen was at fault for Aston Villa getting a draw against Chelsea

Speaking on Premier League Productions (h/t Metro), former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood destroyed Andreas Christensen for costing Chelsea all 3 points on Monday.

Chelsea hosted Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge just 48 hours after their defeat to Arsenal. This prompted Frank Lampard to make 6 changes to the Chelsea first-team.

One of these changes was Andreas Christensen starting in place of Kurt Zouma, who was rested due to the tight fixture list.

Olivier Giroud, who made his first league start after 2 games on the bench, scored in the first half to give Chelsea the lead. However, Chelsea conceded an equalizer early on in the second half due to a mix-up at the back.

Andreas Christensen has been under fire lately.

Andreas Christensen went down in the middle of the park after a challenge from Jack Grealish. The referee didn’t blow the whistle, and Matty Cash’s cross found Anwar El Ghazi for Villa’s equalizer. (h/t Metro)

The 50th-minute goal from El Ghazi proved decisive as the game finished 1-1. And, Sherwood was unhappy with how Christensen did not get up quickly to help his team at the back.

“Not good enough”

The former Tottenham manager took a shot at the Danish defender for not being resilient enough and said he lay ‘on the floor like a baby’ as El Ghazi was left unmarked inside the Chelsea box.

“You’re a big, strong centre-back. Don’t lay down on the floor like a baby, get up and get on with it for your team. Not good enough.”

Sherwood also said that the decision to play Christensen cost Chelsea. He believes that the defender is not good enough for Chelsea.

“No Silva, no Zouma today and it’s cost him. Because Christiansen, that is not good enough.”

However, Lampard cannot be entirely blamed for resting some players because the tight fixture list probably left him with no other choice.
