A View From The Bridge

“Help us fight” – Chelsea star looking forward to playing in front of the fans again

Reece James pleased to soon be playing in front of Chelsea fans again

Speaking to the club’s official site, Chelsea star Reece James is looking forward to welcoming supports back to Stamford Bridge.

This comes after London was classified in the Tier-2 category. All clubs that are present in cities with such a rating have a maximum cap of 2000 spectators permitted.

As things stand, Chelsea fans will be in attendance for our home clash against Leeds United on December 5.

This will be the first time that we will have fans at home since the game against Everton last season. 40,694 fans were in attendance on March 8 as we dismantled the Toffees 4-0.

Chelsea played out a dull 0-0 draw against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday. James was a part of the squad and felt the usual atmosphere was missing due to the lack of fans in the arena.

He cannot wait until he can feel the faithful Blue fans egging him on in the future.

“When the fans return to Stamford Bridge they’ll bring a great atmosphere and boost the players as well and hopefully help us fight.”

Stamford Bridge has not seen fans since 8 March 2020

Playing in front of a home crowd at the Bridge will be a new experience for our summer signings. The likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz can channel the support of the fans and power themselves to greater levels.

Thiago Silva and Hakim Ziyech have faced Chelsea before but as part of the opposition. This time, they will be on the right side and can feel the power our faithful bring to the Bridge.

Chelsea have done well to recover after a difficult start to the season. We are well within touching distance of the top and could challenge for the title.

There is still a long way to go and the return of fans, even in a limited capacity is a step in the right direction.
