Olivier Giroud reveals the three best crossers in the Chelsea squad
According to the club’s official site, French star Olivier Giroud has revealed the three Chelsea stars who excel at crossing.
The veteran striker is a sharp finisher despite his age. With seven goals in 12 games, he is making a real case for himself to be included in the playing XI.
A formidable aerial presence, Giroud is known for getting on the end of crosses in the six-yard area. Having thrived on such deliveries all his career, his assessment can be trusted.
Chelsea brought in a number of excellent players in the summer window. These signings have gone on to develop into key players for the Blues.
It will come as no surprise that two of these recent signings feature in Giroud’s list. Prime among them is Moroccon star Hakim Ziyech.
The midfielder is an assist king and Giroud revealed that the 27-year-old is likely to cut inside and cross with an inswinger. He also went on to add how best to approach Ziyech’s crosses.
“You need to start from a deeper position nearer the far post to attack the ball from there and be in between the defenders.”
Giroud went on to name two other players who also happen to be our full-backs. Both Reece James and Ben Chilwell have been praised for their deliveries.
“We have built a good understanding, and we work on it in training.”
Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson have formed a reputation as the best crossing full-backs in the league. Hopefully, our duo will also give them a run for their money as they continue to develop.
