With a busy summer transfer window, Chelsea expect to offload players in January rather than bring more players in.
Frank Lampard wants to cut down a bloated Chelsea squad and free up the wage bill, and Fikayo Tomori is touted to be one player who could leave Stamford Bridge in January.
Leeds United have shown interest in the 22-year-old defender. Leeds want to bring Tomori in on a permanent basis and are willing to break the bank for him.
Marcelo Bielsa’s two new signings at the back, Diego Llorente and Robin Koch, are out injured. In their absence, Leeds have been exposed at the back as they have conceded 8 goals in their last 2 matches.
Leeds have also just won 1 out of their last 6 matches and are reeling in 14th position (at the time of writing). In light of this, Leeds have targeted Tomori to ease their defensive headaches. (h/t Mirror)
Tomori has seen negligible action in the Chelsea shirt this season. Both his starts have come in the EFL Cup while he has played just 44 minutes in the Premier League.
He has also not featured for the club in the UEFA Champions League despite the club qualifying for the knockout rounds with 2 games to spare.
Tomori’s current contract at Chelsea expires in the summer of 2024. The club’s stance on selling Tomori is unknown as of now, but the possibility of a loan move hasn’t been ruled out.
