Frank Lampard confirms Chelsea ace Hakim Ziyech has injured his hamstring
According to the Mirror, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Hakim Ziyech has injured his hamstring.
The Moroccan international was taken off in our win against Leeds. Former Blue Patrick Bamford gave Marcelo Bielsa’s side the lead before Chelsea came back to secure all three points.
Ziyech meanwhile lasted just 30 minutes before being taken off for Christian Pulisic. It is a testament to the strength in depth we have that we could bring on the American. (h/t Mirror)
“It was his hamstring, he felt it go.”
Ziyech’s loss will be a big miss for Chelsea who have benefitted from his ability to create goals of late. The 27-year-old has scored two goals while assisting three more in 12 games so far.
The midfielder missed the start of the season thanks to a knee injury picked up in the pre-season friendly against Brighton. He had just started to hit his stride once again before this new setback.
While the severity of the injury is not yet known, the news is a distressing one especially going into a busy December. (h/t Mirror)
“We will have to find out how serious it is over the next few days, but it’s obviously disappointing going into a busy period.”
Apart from the injury, it can be said that Chelsea enjoyed an excellent night out. Leeds, to their credit, put up a real show and caused us some problems especially in the first half.
However, we were able to weather the storm and took our chances when it mattered.
