Chelsea star Reece James out injured and could need knee surgery
According to The Athletic, Chelsea right-back, Reece James may be forced to undergo knee surgery.
The 21-year-old has been one of our brightest sparks this season. It would appear he was playing with a minor issue that has flared up in the last few weeks.
This could see him miss out on our busy festive schedule. Given that we have dropped points in our last two games, his potential absence comes at a bad time.
The player underwent a scan on Saturday and the Blues are now waiting to know the results.
The initial diagnosis was very minor and he was thus deemed fit enough to play on. James played against Everton and also Wolverhampton Wanderers over the last week.
His level of discomfort increased over the last few days. James felt greater pain and fluid in his knee during training on Saturday, following which the decision was taken to undergo a scan.
James has started 11 of Chelsea’s 13 Premier League games this season. He is a major doubt for our London derby against West Ham United on Monday night.
