Fabrizio Romano expects Chelsea to make a move for Declan Rice in January
According to the Que Golazo Podcast (h/t Football.london), reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano believes Chelsea will make a move to sign Declan Rice in the January transfer window.
The Blues have been linked with a move for the Hammers star over the last year. Having been let go as a teenager by the Blues, Rice has developed into one of England’s best midfielders.
“I’m convinced they will try again for Declan Rice in January.”
West Ham are keen to hold onto their star but could find their resolve tested by the Blues in the new year.
Romano goes on to add that Rice is a fan of Frank Lampard’s style of football and is keen to return to Stamford Bridge.
Moreover, both Rice and his father are Chelsea fans. A return to the Bridge will be a triumphant return for a player deemed expendable in 2014.
“At the moment, what we know is that the player still wants to join Chelsea, he loves the style of Lampard, he loves Chelsea and also his dad is a Chelsea fan.”
Romano also revealed that there is no agreement between any parties as yet.
“There’s still no agreement between the two clubs, West Ham and Chelsea.”
West Ham placed a massive asking price of over £73million on Rice in the summer. The Blues baulked at the figure but have no intention to settle for a plan B.
