Chelsea promote wonderkid Tino Anjorin to the first-team
According to The Metro, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that youngster Tino Anjorin has been promoted to the first-team setup.
This comes after the Blues suffered a double injury setback in the past few days. Both Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi are currently sidelined with hamstring injuries.
The teenager made his full debut for the Blues in yesterday’s 1-1drawn with Krasnodar in the Champions League. Having already guaranteed the top spot, Lampard had the luxury of making such a call.
The 19-year-old gave a good account of himself on the night. It indicates a bright future for the England youth international.
The youngster showed good tenacity and technical ability while linking up well with his teammates. His work rate was also top-notch in an overall good display.
Anjorin was one of the standout players for the academy sides, captaining the U18s in their FA Cup run last season. He also played for the senior side in the Carabao Cup clash against Grimsby Town and Premier League against Everton prior to the lockdown.
Anjorin is of Nigerian descent and has made five appearances for the under-23s this season in the Premier League 2 while also making one appearance in the EFL Trophy. (h/t Football.london)
Anjorin is an England youth international. He has previously represented the under 17s, 18s, and 19s and he is still eligible to represent Nigeria through his father.
