Lampard reveals why Christian Pulisic did not feature against Everton
Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Football.london), Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has come clean regarding the absence of Christian Pulisic against Everton.
The American winger didn’t just make the starting line-up but was altogether omitted from the matchday squad. The 22-year-old was recovering well and was expected to feature. It is fair to say that we could have done with him on the pitch while chasing the game.
Pulisic has continued to struggle with injuries this season. He has made just five appearances in all competitions.
Lampard has confirmed that the player did have an issue with his hamstring. Thankfully, it does not appear to be serious.
“Christian has a bit of an awareness in his hamstring.”
The Blues boss confirmed that Pulisic did well when he came on last week. However, with him feeling all is not well with his hamstring, he was left out.
Chelsea currently have three players ruled out with hamstring injuries, all of them wingers. Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi are the other two stars out on the sidelines.
Lampard meanwhile hopes Pulisic will be ready to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday. However, it remains to be seen if he will be out until next weekend.
“Christian, yeah, he wasn’t quite ready. I hope he is for Tuesday or for next week.”
