Thomas Tuchel provides injury update on Chelsea duo Hakim Ziyech and Trevoh Chalobah after the 0-0 draw against Wolves.

Hakim Ziyech ruled out for Chelsea against Aston Villa

According to Football.london, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed that Hakim Ziyech will not feature against Aston Villa.

The Moroccan international has endured a number of injuries since moving to the club in the summer.

He missed the start of the season with a knee injury sustained in a pre-season clash against Brighton. A hamstring injury suffered against Leeds United has now seen him miss our last four Premier League games.

That number will become five today against Villa. With this, he will have missed as many games due to injury as he has appeared for us. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Ziyech has been an excellent addition to the Blues squad when fit. He has linked up well with his teammates and racked up two goals and three assists in just 612 minutes. (h/t Transfermarkt)

His presence would have been a massive boost for us in the busy December schedule. The Blues have lost three of their last four games and have struggled to make an impact in the attack. A savant at fashioning changes, Ziyech’s absence has been noticeable.

Lampard looks set to make a string of changes to the side that lost abjectly to Arsenal at the weekend. The likes of Mateo Kovacic and Timo Werner could both be dropped from the starting lineup. (h/t Football.london)

Chelsea’s loss to Arsenal saw them lose more ground in the title race. However, the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Leicester City, and Tottenham Hotspur all dropped points this weekend.

Lampard will have to ensure his stars make a statement with their performance against Villa. The rot has to stop now unless we are forced to bear another season without trophies.
