According to German publication Bild (h/t Football.london), Chelsea are among four clubs in the fray for David Alaba.
The Bayern Munich star is in the final few months of his contract that will expire next summer. He is expected to leave the Bavarian giants after a contract offer was rescinded earlier this year.
With him free to talk to clubs from January, the Blues have been named among four probable destinations.
The other clubs in the fray include Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain. Of the three teams, both the Spanish giants are struggling while PSG are yet to showcase they have what it takes to achieve continental success.
It would be fair to say that Chelsea is the most desirable proposition given the squad and chemistry we are putting together.
Moreover, the player’s agent Pini Zahavi who shares a good relationship with Chelsea. He has helped us sign a number of stars in the past and could add to that tally come next summer.
A versatile plyer who can play a variety of positions, Alaba is also a skilled handler of the dead-ball.
The Austrian is a truly world-class player and the chance to sign him for free is not something we should pass on.
Signing Alaba would further strengthen a Blues defence that has benefited from the addition of fresh blood. The likes of Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, and Edouard Mendy have had a noticeable impact on our backline.
Whether the Blues will go on to land him remains to be seen.
