Antonio Conte keen to reunite with Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri at Inter Milan
According to Italian publication, Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness (h/t Football.london), former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen to reunite with Emerson Palmieri at Inter Milan.
The defender has found opportunities hard to come by at Chelsea under Frank Lampard. With Ben Chilwell firmly entrenched as the club’s first-choice left-back, that is unlikely to change anytime soon.
This has seen Emerson linked with a return to Italy where he previously spent three seasons with Roma.
Having recruited heavily in the summer, the Blues are ready to trim their squad in the January transfer window. According to the report, either Emerson or Marcos Alonso will have to bite the bullet in the new year.
So far, Emerson has made just seven appearances, of which just one came in the Premier League. (h/t Transfermarkt)
And Inter Milan could be ready to hand him a way out, as Conte seeks to reunite with the Italian international. Juventus, too, have been touted to be keen on securing the player’s services. Chelsea, for their part, are not averse to parting ways with the Italian come January.
However, as confirmed by the player’s agent, the Blues are unwilling to sanction a deal that will not see them benefit monetarily.
Having joined from Roma in 2018, Emerson has failed to solidify his position in the Blues squad. A return to his homeland could help rekindle a career that has gone stale in London.
The player is also keen to return to Serie A. It would appear that he is open to a switch if it gives him more opportunities. (h/t Football.london)

The defender’s departure could leave us short of backup options behind Chilwell in the left-back slot.
