Italian giants remain keen on signing out-of-favour Chelsea star

Inter Milan and Juventus still keen on Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport (h/t The Mirror), Serie A duo Inter Milan and Juventus remain keen on Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri.

The Italian has fallen down the pecking order since the signing of Ben Chilwell in the summer. With Marcos Alonso having fallen from grace, it can be argued that he is above the Spaniard in the club’s current plans.

He has made just four appearances this season, just one of them from the start. (h/t Transfermarkt)

This has led to the player indicating that he is open to a return to Serie A in the future.

Interest from Italy is not new. Emerson was continually linked with the likes of Juventus and Inter in the past.

The player himself admitted that while there was interest, nothing concrete came up in the summer. It would appear that he is ready to move if he has a shot at regular playing time. (h/t Football.london)

It would now appear that neither Italian sides have dropped their interest in the player.

This would be welcome news for the player given we are now approaching the January transfer window. The prospect of once again playing regularly could open doors for him to return to the Italy fold ahead of the Euros.

It remains to be seen if Inter or Juventus make a concerted effort to secure Emerson’s performances in January. Given his peripheral role in our squad, the 26-year-old is a player we are unlikely to miss.

Emerson has made 59 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions. During this time, he has scored one goal and assisted five. (h/t Transfermarkt)
