“Make life very difficult” – Reliable journalist reveals Chelsea ace has had a change in heart

Transfer News: Real Madrid already have an agreement in place to sign Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger.

David Ornstein reveals why Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger rejected Tottenham Hotspur switch

Speaking on The Athletic’s Youtube channel, reliable journalist David Ornstein has revealed why Antonio Rudiger rejected the chance to swap Chelsea for Tottenham Hotspur.

The German international looked to be on his way out of the club earlier this summer. One of the clubs keen on securing his signature was Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs were keen to bring in a defender and could have landed the Blues star. However, Rudiger rejected the opportunity to do so.

According to Ornstein, Rudiger was unwilling to risk his long-term future at Chelsea by moving on loan to our arch-rivals.

“It was Rudiger who actually turned down a move to Tottenham. He felt that going from Chelsea on loan to Spurs and potentially back again might make life very difficult.”

Staying at Chelsea has not done the defender much favours. He has played a largely peripheral role and does not appear to be a part of the bigger picture.

Ornstein, however, goes on to admit that Rudiger may think twice if such an opportunity was to present itself again.

The defender is keen to make the Germany squad for Euro 2020. Staying on the bench at Chelsea is unlikely to see him as a shoo-in for the tournament.

He is keen to return to first-team football. Should he receive an offer in January, he might be willing to take it on.

Spurs have already signed Joe Rodon and it remains to be seen if they will return for Rudiger. The player, however, has a number of other clubs keen on his services.

What he does and where he goes remains to be seen.
