Liverpool star backs Chelsea to push for the PL title after excellent start to the season

Andy Robertson expects Chelsea to challenge Liverpool for the title

According to The Express, Liverpool star Andy Robertson expects Chelsea to challenge for the Premier League title.

The Blues are currently in third spot behind Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool. With just two points separating the three teams, we are well within catching distance of the top.

Robertson has also gone on to add Spurs and Leicester City amongst potential challengers.

“I think teams have improved, you see Tottenham, you see Leicester, you see Chelsea – they have all improved so much.”

Liverpool ran away with the title last season. Robertson does not expect the Reds to have a free run this time around and believes things will be much closer.

Having strengthened well in the summer, it was always going to take us time to incorporate the new players into our setup.

It is a testament to our coaching and management that these players are now finding their feet. Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have added much to the attack while Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Edouard Mendy have also strengthened the defence.

Kai Havertz has blown hot and cold but has shown enough promise. Lampard is building a young dynamic squad capable of challenging for top honours for years to come.

The fact that Robertson identifies the threat we pose showcases how far we have come since last season.

Liverpool remain a formidable side

Despite injuries to major players, Liverpool remain a real threat to our aspirations. Jurgen Klopp’s side are formidable and we cannot afford to lose ground.

Lampard has lost all three of his Premier League clashes against the Reds. Hopefully, this season’s visit to Anfield will be different.

We face Tottenham this weekend. It will be time to once again remind them that there is only one team from London in the race.
