Lampard sends congratulatory message to Chelsea star who could still have a future at the club

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard congratulates Ross Barkley on Aston Villa success

According to Eurosport (h/t The Mirror), Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has called up Ross Barkley to congratulate him.

The Chelsea loanee has hit the ground running at Villa Park. Barkley has been instrumental in what has been a strong start to the season by Dean Smith’s side.

Lampard is fascinated by the aspects of Barkley’s game. Given the competition for places at Chelsea, the Blues boss felt the player would benefit from a full season of regular first-team football rather than playing a bit-part role.

Ross Barkley may yet have a future at Chelsea

So far, it looks to be an inspired decision. Not only has Barkley done well so far, but he has actually thrived.

The performances could also help resurrect his career at Chelsea. If he keeps it up, there is no reason for us not to bring him back into the fold ahead of next season.

Barkley could also benefit from the partnership he is building with Villa skipper Jack Grealish. The English national team has looked out of sorts and is also dealing with injuries to key players such as Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashfod and Jordan Henderson.

With the current season seeing a number of players fall prey to injuries, Barkley could play his way into the England setup ahead of next summer’s Euros.

Grealish has been excellent for England and Barkley’s promising partnership with the midfielder could hand Gareth Southgate more possibilities. The midfielder has not played for the Three Lions in over a year now. (h/t Birmingham Mail)

Perhaps smartly, Chelsea did not include a buyout clause in the loan deal that took the player to Villa Park. Any potential deal will see the ball in our court. (h/t Birmingham Mail)

If all goes well, we may welcome back a game-changing player next summer.
