A View From The Bridge

“Where does he fit in?”: Former PL ace predicts bleak future at Chelsea for this young star

Joleon Lescott concerned about Tammy Abraham thanks to Timo Werner

According to the Metro, former English international Joleon Lescott has expressed his fears for Chelsea star Tammy Abraham.

The young striker started last season as the club’s preferred striker. However, the signing of Timo Werner has seen him drop down a level in the pecking order.

Now with Christian Pulisic back to full fitness, Lescott believes Abraham’s spot in the starting XI is at stake.

With the American international nursing an injury, Werner was shifted to the left flank to accommodate Abraham up top. It is fair to say that he has done well scoring three goals and assisting two more in nine Premier League games this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Once Pulisic returns, Werner will be expected to return to a more central position. This would leave Abraham out of the starting XI. (h/t Metro)

“I possibly think if they had a full-strength squad at the start, he [Werner] may have played centre forward and Tammy Abraham may have had to play second fiddle.”

Werner is adept at playing upfront. He was clinical playing there for RB Leipzig last season and went on to score 34 goals in 45 appearances. (h/t Metro)

Rising to the occasion!

Lescott admits that he initially thought Abraham would struggle to compete with Werner. However, the Englishman has done well as of yet. (h/t Metro)

“I wasn’t sure he was going to be able to survive it.”

However once the Blues have a full-strength squad, Lampard could choose to field Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech on the flanks, relegating Abraham to the bench. (h/t Metro)

“I think Pulisic and Ziyech on the wings with then Havertz and Mount in midfield… Tammy, where does he fit in.”

Pulisic is arguably our best dynamic player and showcased it often last season. His return would give us another dimension in what is a vastly improving Chelsea side.
