According to Football.london, Chelsea are set to welcome back 2000 fans to Stamford Bridge once the lockdown ends on December 2.
This comes after London was classified in the Tier-2 category. All clubs that are present in cities with such a rating have a maximum cap of 2000 spectators permitted.
As things stand, fans will be in attendance for our clash against Leeds United on December 5.
Fans were last permitted into the stadium in our home game against Everton last season. 40,694 fans were in attendance on March 8 as we dismantled the Toffees 4-0.
The club had confirmed earlier this month that they are working on plans to welcome back fans into Stamford Bridge.
While 2000 is just a minuscule number, it represents the beginning of what we hope is things getting better. It has not been the same watching the game sans fans to cheer the teams on.
Given the history between Frank Lampard and Marcelo Bielsa, one could not have chosen a better match for fans to return for. Hopefully, the presence of our spectators will give us the edge.
While not setting off any beacons, Bielsa’s side have given a good account of themselves this season. They could prove to be dogged opponents to overcome.
Similar to London, Liverpool too has been categorized as Tier 2, meaning they too can bring back fans. The same cannot be said for the Manchester giants.
The city has been categorized as a Tier-3, meaning games will continue to be played behind closed doors.
