As reported by the Evening Standard, Chelsea summer arrival and key defender Thiago Silva has revealed that he is getting headaches due to the aerial duels he has been involved in the Premier League.
The 36-year-old Silva signed for Chelsea in the summer transfer window on a free transfer, after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired.
The Brazilian international did not have the best of starts to life in England, but over the past few weeks, he has grown into a key member of the team, helping the Blues get solid at the back.
Indeed, Silva has struck up a solid pairing with fellow centre-back Kurt Zouma and has helped the Frenchman improve his game with his guidance on and off the field.
Speaking on his experience of playing in England so far, the Brazilian, who is currently away on international duty, has revealed that he has been getting headaches because of the number of aerial duels he has been involved in. (h/t Evening Standard)
“The last two games I played in England I came out with a headache. Aerial plays all the time and constantly a very high game rhythm.”
In his eight appearances, Silva has helped Chelsea to six clean sheets. And while he may be 36 years old, his experience and know-how of the game has certainly rubbed off on the team.
Silva signed just a year-long contract with Chelsea, although the club has the option of extending it by another 12 months.
