According to Football Insider (h/t Football.london), Chelsea transfer target Michael Olise has an £8m release clause.
The Reading youngster is one of the most sought-after youngsters in English football. A number of teams from across the continent are watching his progress with interest.
Apart from us, the 18-year-old has also drawn attention from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Leeds United, Wolves, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, AS Monaco and Napoli.
Olise would be familiar with the Blues, having spent some time with the club’s academy. He also had a stint in Manchester City’s academy before joining the Royals in 2016.
The youngster has since progressed to move up to the first-team. He has improved leaps and bounds and looks a proper prospect this season.
Olise has featured 11 times across all competitions for Reading this season. He has so far made a return of two goals and three assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
He has played a part in all ten Championship fixtures this season. Reading are doing well and are currently top of the second tier.
An attacking midfielder, Olise is a versatile player also capable of playing on the wings. This adaptability could help him fit in well with the fluid Chelsea system if at all he returns to the club.
At just 18, Olise has a long way to go in his career. However, if he continues to develop as expected, he might find even more suitors take notice of his talents.
For now, he remains a Reading player. But his form combined with the low release clause makes him an enticing prospect. Whether we can beat the competition to him remains to be seen.
