Speaking to German publication SID (h/t The Express), Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger has opened up on his future at the club.
The German ace looked to be on his way out of the club this summer. He was linked with a number of clubs including Tottenham Hotspur. However, a deal was not finalised and he stayed put at the Bridge.
Rudiger initially found oppirtunities non existent. That is not the case at the moment.
The 27-year-old made his first Premier League appearance of the season against Newcastle United at the weekend. He went on to help keep a clean sheet as Chelsea topped the Premier League table briefly.
The performance would have been an eye-opener for both the player and the club. While it would have reassured Rudiger of his ability, the Blues will have realized they have another reliable player to call upon.
Having fought his way back into first-team contention, Rudiger insists he is going nowhere.
“I see myself as a permanent part of the team.”
The German international is satisfied with how things have gone for him of late. He now firmly believes he has a place at the club going forward.
“I’m satisfied with how the situation has developed in the past weeks.”
The player to his credit admits that he did consider other options. However, a positive conversation with the coaching team has now put him at ease.
Lampard has made it no secret that he plans to use Thiago Silva judiciously. If Rudiger is able to keep up his current form, it will make the Chelsea boss’ job easier.
