According to Football.london, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has given a positive update on the fitness of Thiago Silva.
The Brazilian ace is now fit and ready to take on Burnley at Turf Moor. The 36-year-old was absent from the squad that travelled to Russia to take on Krasnodar.
Fans can however rest easy. Silva endured a difficult debut away to West Bromwich Albion. He has however picked up his game since and has been pivotal in recent weeks.
“Thiago is fit. Taking him out of Russia was a maintenance issue.”
The veteran’s performances against Sevilla and Manchester Untied have garnered much attention. Alongside Kurt Zouma, Silva has formed a dependable partnership at the ehart of the Blue defence.
Having him back for the trip to Burnley will be a massive boost for the team. Sean Dyche’s side are formidable at home and will rpesent us with a difficult challenge.
The Chelsea defence has excelled at keeping clean sheets in recent weeks. The shut out against Krasnodar yesterday was our fourth shutout in the last five games.
Despite his absence in Krasnodar, Chelsea were able to keep the Russians at bay. Antonio Rudiger returned to make his first start of the season and gave an excellent account of himself.
With the defence now finding its feet, the club can look to sustain a proper title challenge. We were not too shabby at the other end of the pitch as well.
Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, and Hakim Ziyech all scored as the Blues won their first game of this season’s Champions League group stages.
Lampard also went on to add that his decision to leave out Thiago was more of a precaution.
Given the player’s advanced age, the Blues boss did not want to risk him when not needed. It was a smart squad management decision.
