Report – Chelsea outcast’s Juve move fell through because of Alonso’s actions

Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri’s move to Juventus broke down following Lampard-Alonso feud

According to Calciomercato via Sport Witness (h/t The Mirror), Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri’s transfer to Juventus broke down due to Marcos Alonso and Frank Lampard.

Both Alonso and Emerson enjoyed unconvincing spells at left-back last season. With the arrival of Ben Chilwell this summer, it was expected that one of them would be moved on.

Emerson appeared to be that candidate, with the Italian going close to joining Serie A champions Juventus.

Emerson could not join Juventus thanks to Alonso and Lampard

However, the move failed to take off due to events that transpired at the Hawthorns during our 3-3 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

The Blues trailed 3-0 at the break as the Baggies made the most of our errors. Lampard is not one for mincing words and had a go at Alonso.

The Spaniard was taken off at half-time and watched his teammates mount a comeback from the team bus. Him not watching the game alongside his teammates from the sidelines did little to endear himself to the Blues boss.

Juventus were keen to sign Emerson initially on a loan with an option to buy. However, following the events at West Brom, Chelsea shifted tactics to ensure Alonso was the player on his way out.

According to the report, the Spaniard could not agree to a deal with Juventus. Moreover, the Italians also lacked time to finalize a deal for Emerson.

The window is now closed and both players are still at the club.

Following the incident, Lampard came forward to call for unity in his team. He also admitted that it would be unprofessional of him to hold a grudge against Alonso.

The Spaniard has not featured for Chelsea since that night. It remains to be seen if he has been frozen out or will be brought back once the memories of the incident die down.
