“They will kill you” – Rival boss lavishes praise on Chelsea duo after brilliant performance

Ralph Hasenhuttl backs Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to succeed at Chelsea

According to The Daily Star, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has backed Chelsea duo Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to come good.

The duo scored all three of the Blues goals in the 3-3 draw against Saints yesterday. Two of our key summer signings, they have so far looked to be worth every penny.

Werner scored a first-half while Havertz grabbed the third in the second half. It was the duo’s first Premier League goals since joining us in the summer.

Unfortunately, it was not enough as a spate of defensive mistakes ensured the Saints went away with a draw.

Werner is a player Hasenhuttl is familiar with. The Austrian was in charge of RB Leipzig when he joined the club from VfB Stuttgart in 2016.

He praised Werner’s performance and believes it was only a matter of time before the German ace found his scoring boots.

“I knew the moment would come that he scored his first goal in the Premier League. I hoped it would not be against us.”

Kai Havertz has thrived playing centrally in recent weeks.

He went on to praise Havertz and commented on how it is difficult to contain players of their calibre. Not recognizing their quality is a recipe for disaster to the opposition.

“When you are not tight on Timo and Kai Havertz they will kill you.”

Hasenhuttl is not the only person to notice the duo’s talents. Speaking on Match of the Day (h/t Daily Star), Arsenal legend Ian Wright was also quick to point out the duo’s magnificence.

He believes both Werner and Havertz will be difficult to stop once they get going. It is still early days but the omens so far look promising.
