A View From The Bridge

Chelsea new boy reveals why he chose to sign for Chelsea

Hakim Ziyech opens up on why he chose to join Chelsea

Speaking to the Evening Standard, new Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech has revealed why he chose to move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The 27-year-old agreed to join the Blues earlier this year after a number of fruitful years at Ajax Amsterdam. Little did we know then that he would just be one of a plethora of stars making their way to the Bridge.

But he is yet to make an impact at Chelsea. This is owing to an injury he picked up in the pre-season game against Brighton.

Ziyech made his Chelsea bow in our 3-3 draw at Southampton. He once again came off the bench in our Champions League fixture against Sevilla.

Now that he is back in the reckoning, Ziyech is keen to integrate himself alongside Chelsea’s attacking talents.

An ambitious player, the Moroccan is looking forward to playing beautiful football and winning trophies.

“For the things to achieve I think it is clear that for everybody in the club it is winning trophies, to perform well and play beautiful football.”

With the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic alongside him, Ziyech is not lacking for quality teammates. He is aware of his comrades’ abilities and cannot wait to impress alongside them.

“Kai and Timo are two big talents and have already proved it in the past with what they did for their clubs before, Christian is also one of the biggest talents.”

With 130 goal contributions in 162 games, Ziyech was a savant at goalscoring and assisting at Ajax. With him gradually returning to full fitness, the hope remains that he can replicate the same at Stamford Bridge.
