Transfer News: Real Madrid already have an agreement in place to sign Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger.

Antonio Rudiger will try to leave Chelsea in the winter

As reported by the Mirror, Germany national team manager Joachim Low has revealed that out of favour Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger will try to leave the club in January.

The 27-year-old has been with Chelsea since 2017 and has been a regular in the first-team for a majority of his time at the club. However, injuries ate into his game time last season, while he has firmly fallen down the pecking order this term under Frank Lampard.

Indeed, Rudiger is yet to make a single appearance for Chelsea this term, while he has made the bench on just one occasion only.

The German international was heavily linked with an exit towards the end of the transfer window. However, a move never materialised and he stayed put at the club.

Joachim Low, Rudiger’s manager in the German national team, has now confirmed that the defender tried everything to leave this summer and will once again push for an exit when the winter window opens. (h/t Mirror)

“He tried everything to leave Chelsea because the European Championship is very important to him. I think he’ll try to leave again in the winter. He’s doing everything he can to stay in his best form.”

Low also confirmed that Rudiger had three or four options in the transfer window gone by, but a transfer did not go through. (h/t Mirror)

One of those options was our local rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The North London outfit were keen on the German international. But, Rudiger decided against a transfer late in the window as he didn’t want to anger the Chelsea supporters. (h/t Daily Mail)

Rudiger has been included in Chelsea’s 25-man squad for the UEFA Champions League. It will be interesting to see if he can work his way back into the starting XI at the Bridge.
